This 2-day (16 hours) course is designed to train individuals to perform lead-based paint abatement activities.

This course, with hands-on activities, will cover:

  • Background information on lead & sources of contamination/exposure
  • Regulatory / guidance review (OSHA, EPA, HUD, State & Local)
  • Hazard recognition & controls, including:
    • health effects
    • exposure measurements
    • materials identification
    • safety & health rules
    • medical surveillance
    • medical removal programs
    • chelation issues
  • Personal protective measures, including:
    • respirators
    • clothing & hygiene
  • Work practices, including:
    • area preparation
    • maintenance activities (welding, cutting, etc.)
    • indoor & outdoor abatement of paint, dust, & soil
    • mechanical, manual, & chemical methods
    • engineering & administrative controls
    • clean-up & disposal
  • Recordkeeping
  • Records access
