This 2-day (16 hours) course is designed to train individuals to perform lead-based paint abatement activities.
This course, with hands-on activities, will cover:
- Background information on lead & sources of contamination/exposure
- Regulatory / guidance review (OSHA, EPA, HUD, State & Local)
- Hazard recognition & controls, including:
- health effects
- exposure measurements
- materials identification
- safety & health rules
- medical surveillance
- medical removal programs
- chelation issues
- Personal protective measures, including:
- respirators
- clothing & hygiene
- Work practices, including:
- area preparation
- maintenance activities (welding, cutting, etc.)
- indoor & outdoor abatement of paint, dust, & soil
- mechanical, manual, & chemical methods
- engineering & administrative controls
- clean-up & disposal
- Recordkeeping
- Records access
